Two weeks ago our friend Kimi made the long trip from Idaho to visit us!!! She brought along her friend Elise, who had never been to Oahu so we got to go visit the USS Missouri and Pearl Harbor with them- what a cool experience! (And thanks for getting us there Elise!)

The most amazing thing about the battleship was how small the quarters were- amazing to think of men crammed into those bunkers and living days at a time...sure makes you appreciative of the life they sacrifice in order to protect us. There were some amazing quotes that were quite sobering in the ship, several of which I have placed on this blog. The dock of the USS is where the treaty to end WWII was signed between US and Japan...pretty neat experience.
Pearl Harbor was beautiful. There is so much oil still coming up from the ship- some 40+ years later. Amazing to think there's hundreds of bodies trapped below the water that will never surface. A bit creepy.
Quite a humbling experience.
